Overview
Nicholas Williams is a Partner in the Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group.
Nicholas has represented both secured and unsecured creditors, including banks, financial/credit institutions, corporations, and individuals in credit and debt collection, security enforcement (residential and commercial), bankruptcy (commercial and consumer), receiverships and restructuring matters. Nicholas also frequently represents Court-appointed receivers and trustees on complex financial matters.
Nicholas develops file strategies with clients to ensure expedient and financially-appropriate results from the initial file intake. He is well versed in preparing pleadings, applications and orders that reflect the applicable case law and legislation.
Nicholas has prepared written and oral argument for applications before both Applications Judges and Justices of the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, and has participated in trials in the Court of King's Bench of Alberta in Edmonton and Calgary. Nicholas has also represented parties before the Court of Appeal of Alberta. Beyond litigation, he is skilled in negotiating settlements on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants to resolve matters where extensive litigation may not be necessary.
