Martin Poulin

Overview

Martin Poulin is a member of the Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group and the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group of Dentons Canada LLP’s Montréal office. His practice focuses on bankruptcy, restructuring, insolvency, civil and commercial litigation as well as construction and environmental litigation.

Martin is an experienced litigator who acts in complex trials and appeals in all areas of civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Martin draws upon his expertise to help secured lenders in enforcing their security through the exercise of hypothecary rights and remedies. He advises creditors in matters leading to the appointment of receivers. He also advises corporate debtors on their reorganizations under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and other insolvency proceedings.

Martin also advises banks in lender liability actions and cases involving bills of exchange and letters of credit. Martin acts in fraud and assets recovery cases and in the exercise of extraordinary remedies such as seizure before judgment and injunctions of all types including Mareva injunctions and Norwich and Anton Piller orders.

Martin regularly represents owners and construction contractors in construction disputes and provides them legal and strategic advice. He advises clients in public call for tenders processes as well as on questions related to the Régie du bâtiment and on the various laws that govern the construction sector.
