Overview

Leah M. Tolton is a partner at Bennett Jones in Edmonton. She practises corporate law, advising family-owned businesses, corporate clients, lenders and real estate clients. Her work covers commercial agreements, business structures and tax planning, corporate and syndicated lending, equipment leasing and finance, mergers and acquisitions, real estate joint ventures, partnerships and other co-ownership arrangements. Leah has particular experience advising high-net-worth families, their companies, owners and boards on governance, succession planning, corporate structuring, reorganizations, strategic planning and risk management. She also negotiates and drafts joint venture, construction, unanimous shareholder and employee stock option agreements, as well as private and syndicated financing documents. Her clients operate in sectors including oilfield services, heavy construction, waste management, hospitality and real estate. Leah earned her LLB from the University of Alberta and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1994. She holds the Family Enterprise Advisor designation and serves on the Alberta Business Family Institute's Board of Advisors.
