Overview

Lana J. Finney is a Toronto partner at Blakes, an environmental lawyer and litigator, and a Law Society of Ontario certified specialist in environmental law. She advises on environmental issues arising in acquisitions and sales, contaminated-site remediation, environmental assessments, permitting, and approvals. Lana represents clients facing federal and provincial environmental or regulatory charges and handles appeals of remediation orders and permit conditions before the Ontario Land Tribunal. Her litigation work includes contaminated-land claims involving landlords, tenants, property owners, and business operators. She also advises companies, directors, and officers on environmental liabilities, insurance coverage, chemical reporting obligations, plastics and PFAS regimes, and extended producer responsibility requirements. A further part of her practice concerns renewable-energy, infrastructure, and public-private partnership projects, where she addresses project documentation and environmental regulation, often for brownfield sites. Lana also negotiates commercial agreements involving First Nations.
