Overview

Jeff Hernaez is counsel at Olthuis van Ert in Vancouver, where he practises commercial litigation and public law. He represents clients in breach-of-contract claims, class proceedings, negligence actions, real estate disputes, judicial reviews, statutory appeals, injunctions, and shareholder and company disputes. Jeff also acts for professional regulators in discipline and unauthorized-practice matters. He has represented clients at every level of court in British Columbia. Matters identified by the firm include a successful application involving control of a derivative claim in a corporate deadlock, the successful striking of a civil claim against a professional regulator, and appellate work concerning certificates of pending litigation and judicial review. Before joining Olthuis van Ert, Jeff practised in the Vancouver office of a prominent Western Canadian firm. He earned his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and his BA from Western University. Jeff was admitted in British Columbia in 2017; his Ontario admission was active from 2016 through 2024.
