Jean-Nicolas Delage is a partner in Osler's Emerging and High Growth Companies Group in Montréal. He specializes in intellectual property strategy and transactions for emerging and high-growth companies. Jean-Nicolas advises on intellectual property issues arising in standardization processes and helps research consortiums involving businesses, universities and research centres develop IP strategies. His experience includes implementing patent pools following the adoption of new standards and advising on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory licensing. The firm also lists artificial intelligence, telecommunications, venture capital, defence and aerospace, entertainment and media, agribusiness, and food and beverage among his areas of expertise. Recent representative work includes advising technology and investment clients on seed financings, strategic investments and acquisitions. Before joining Osler, Jean-Nicolas co-led an emerging and high-growth practice at another large Canadian firm. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Montreal, was admitted to the Québec bar in 1994, and is affiliated with several Canadian and international intellectual property organizations.
