Overview

Giancarlo Salvo is a partner in the Corporate group and the Montréal leader of the Private Equity group. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, and securities law. He has extensive experience in the venture capital and private equity areas and has acted as lead counsel on a significant number of VC financings in Canada. He also has extensive experience managing a number of large VC financings in the United States, United Kingdom, France and Germany. His private equity and venture capital experience also includes advising funds on their domestic and international portfolio investments and divestitures and on their fund formations. Giancarlo also regularly advises TSX and TSX-V listed companies on IPOs, financings, stock-based compensation and corporate governance.
Giancarlo is frequently involved in complex cross-border and international transactions in key industries such as technology and renewable energy. He advises clients on matters in the following transactions: private equity and venture capital financings, public offerings, private placements, plans of arrangement, takeover bids, takeover defenses and strategies, leveraged buyouts and Canada-U.S. exchangeable share structures.
