Overview

Cory Chan is an Edmonton tax lawyer and Chartered Professional Accountant at Chan Tax Law. He advises individuals, corporations and trusts on personal and corporate tax matters, corporate reorganizations, trust planning and other tax-planning strategies. His practice also covers tax issues arising from corporate and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, business structuring and sales, divisive reorganizations, and departure tax for clients leaving Canada. Cory works with high-net-worth families, owner-managers, farm families, physicians and other professionals. He advises those clients on estate and business-succession planning, including transitions to the next generation and preparations for a sale. Before practising law, Cory worked as a Chartered Professional Accountant with a multinational accounting firm. After his call to the Alberta Bar, he practised tax law at a multinational law firm, combining his accounting and legal backgrounds in his current advisory work.
