Cindy Vaillancourt is a partner in our Québec Region Business Law Group and the co-lead of our national Environmental Law Group. Her practice focuses on environment, energy, and natural resources.For nearly 20 years, Cindy has been advising clients from a variety of industrial sectors, providing them with legal and strategic solutions in the areas of government relations, contaminated site remediation, environmental compliance, and permitting processes. She also assists clients in federal and provincial criminal investigations, particularly under the Fisheries Act (Canada), the Environmental Quality Act (Québec), and the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.In commercial transactions, such as company or property sales or acquisitions, Cindy coordinates environmental due diligence and negotiates the contractual aspects of environmental issues, with a focus on risk reduction. She also has extensive expertise on climate change, including with regard to issues related to the Québec greenhouse gas cap and trade system.Cindy stands out for her practical approach, efficiency, and results-oriented mindset. She quickly identifies key issues and proposes concrete solutions tailored to her clients' needs. Her ability to navigate complex environments and achieve tangible results makes her a trusted advisor.Cindy holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International and Transnational Law from Laval University, and has been a member of the Québec Bar since 2002. Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault in 2006, she was a legal and political advisor on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, notably on environmental issues.
