Overview

Stephen D. Wortley is a partner and Foreign Legal Consultant with DLA Piper, with offices in Vancouver and New York. He is admitted in British Columbia and Ontario and licensed as a Foreign Legal Consultant by the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division. Stephen practises in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions and is recognized for his knowledge of Chinese, Hong Kong and East Asian markets. He advises state-owned enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses on domestic and international securities and corporate matters, including prospectus offerings and listings on the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange and Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. He also advises on Chinese outbound M&A transactions into the Americas, ASEAN and Europe. Stephen speaks frequently on Hong Kong Stock Exchange listings by Canadian companies and alternative investment structures. He clerked for a justice of the British Columbia Court of Appeal. His areas of focus include corporate, equity capital markets, finance, mergers and acquisitions, emerging growth and venture capital, technology, energy and natural resources, and mining and mineral resources. Stephen earned an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia.
