With an emphasis on navigating complex competition law issues, Niki provides strategic counsel to clients facing Competition Bureau enforcement and high-stakes private litigation, helping to shape the landscape of competition law in Canada.

Formerly counsel to Canada’s Commissioner of Competition, Niki has an extensive background in specialized industries, working with leading clients such as Facebook, PayPal, eBay, Airbnb, Lululemon and Rakuten Kobo. He represents clients before the Competition Tribunal, the Federal Courts, and Superior Courts across Canada. His notable cases include defending Facebook in the Commissioner of Competition’s privacy investigation related to Cambridge Analytica and securing a critical injunction for Rakuten Kobo in Canada’s eBooks case. He has defeated class certification on behalf of trivago in relation to alleged deceptive marketing, and on behalf of Smucker in relation to an alleged cartel involving packaged tuna. Niki's innovative litigation strategies have set precedents, such as obtaining leave to bring a private action before the Competition Tribunal against music publishing companies and he led Canada’s leading case involving prevention of competition allegations in merger challenges.
