Overview
Matthew Demeo is a partner in DLA Piper's Toronto office practising labour and employment law. He advises employers on recruitment, discipline and termination, executive employment arrangements, labour relations, organizational change, workforce reductions and closures. His work also addresses employment standards, human rights, workplace bullying and harassment, and occupational health and safety obligations. Matthew represents employers in labour arbitrations, before administrative tribunals and in Ontario and Federal courts. He acts as lead spokesperson in collective bargaining and supports organizations responding to union campaigns, strikes and other workplace crises. He also advises on employment issues arising in corporate transactions, drafts and enforces employment agreements and restrictive covenants, conducts workplace investigations and delivers training. Before entering law, Matthew worked as a human resources manager in manufacturing. He earned his JD from Queen's University in 2012 and was admitted to the Ontario bar in 2013.
