Overview

Claire Gowdy is a Business Law partner in Fasken's Toronto office. Her practice focuses on private mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and complex commercial transactions. She advises domestic and foreign private equity investors and companies across industries that include mining and natural resources, technology, industrials and healthcare. Claire applies a practical, business-driven approach to investment opportunities, commercial ventures and transaction negotiations. She holds the Osgoode Certificate in Mining Law and is a frequent speaker and writer on mergers and acquisitions and developments in the private equity industry. Before joining Fasken, she practised business law at a large national firm in Toronto and completed secondments with TD Bank and Vale Canada. Claire holds civil-law and common-law degrees from McGill University's Faculty of Law and an undergraduate degree in psychology from Princeton University. She was admitted in Ontario in 2014 and currently practises as a Toronto partner.
