Chris Zawadzki is a partner in our Business Law Group in Toronto. Known for his pragmatic and solutions-oriented advice, Chris gives clients access to critical insights on the Canadian and global energy transition. Clients benefit from his depth of experience working on complex projects around the world in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Africa.
Chris focuses on complex financial transactions to meet the growing demand for speciality metals and materials in the energy space. He advises extensively on project finance, corporate finance, streams, royalties, off-takes, and other investment and commercial transactions. Chris’ broader expertise also includes work on joint ventures, partnerships, project development, acquisitions and divestments.
Chris principally advises sponsors, project companies, financial institutions, streamers, insurance companies, private equity funds and private lenders on efficiently and effectively funding and developing projects in the mining, energy and infrastructure spaces.
With prior experience in-house at a leading Canadian-based global producer of renewable and conventional energy assets, Chris understands precisely what strategic and practical advice both legal counsels and executive teams are looking for when driving complex deals and ambitious projects to successful completion.
Chris obtained his LLB and BCL from McGill University and holds a Masters of Science with a concentration in Energy Technologies from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Economics from the Queen’s University. Chris has also received a Certificate of Mining Law Specialization from Osgoode Hall Law School.
