Overview

Brian C. Pel is a partner at Heuristica Discovery Counsel in Toronto. He joined the firm in 2016 after practising tax law for thirty years at a major downtown Toronto firm. Having represented both small and large corporate clients, Brian brings substantial experience to complex and technical legal disputes. He has appeared before federal and provincial courts and tribunals on tax matters and maintains a strong interest in effective preparation for dispute resolution. Brian has written extensively on legal issues and co-authored two chapters in Halsbury's Laws of Canada. He has also been an early adopter of technology in legal practice and remains engaged with legal technology matters. His academic credentials include degrees from the University of Toronto, its Rotman School of Management, the London School of Economics and McGill University. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987 and the Alberta Bar in 2018.
