Overview

Alexander Max Jarvie is a Partner in Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP's Montréal office. He advises Canadian, U.S. and international organizations on privacy and data protection, the use of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies, and information governance and risk management strategies. He also advises on technology transactions, technology licensing agreements and related corporate-commercial matters. Before beginning his legal career, Max worked in the information-technology field for 13 years, giving him a practical understanding of clients' technology needs. Prior to joining Davies, he practised at the Montréal office of a national law firm. He clerked for Justice Nicholas Kasirer of the Québec Court of Appeal and Justice Hanan Melcer of the Supreme Court of Israel. A frequent writer and speaker, he addresses the intersection of law and technology, including artificial intelligence, privacy law, privacy-protecting technologies, distributed ledgers and smart cities.
