Overview

Riyaz Dattu leads the Canada Legal Practice at ArentFox Schiff and advises on international trade and investment matters. Drawing on more than 35 years in practice, he handles investment treaty planning and arbitration, trade disputes before domestic courts, World Trade Organization and North American treaty panels, trade remedies, sanctions, export controls, customs, market access, government procurement, national security, corporate investigations and anti-corruption. Riyaz structures cross-border investments to obtain treaty protection and advises on contracts and dispute-resolution provisions. He has acted in significant investment arbitrations involving governments in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia and assists businesses responding to evolving trade policy. The Government of Canada appointed him to the roster of panelists for the former NAFTA Chapter 19, now USMCA Chapter 10, binational dispute-resolution process. He is admitted to practise in Canada and serves as a foreign legal consultant in New York.
