Overview

Jennifer McWhaw is a debt finance partner in Kirkland & Ellis LLP's New York office. She represents borrowers, sponsors, direct lenders, distressed investors, and creditors across a broad range of corporate finance transactions. Her practice includes secured borrowings, private-credit transactions, high-yield issuances, liability-management transactions, rescue financings, restructurings, debtor-in-possession financings, exit financings, and other special-situations matters. Jennifer's representative experience includes financings and recapitalizations for restaurant, eye-care, software, infrastructure, retail, fitness, pipeline, and financial-services businesses. Her work has involved new-money investments, debt exchanges, intellectual-property dropdown transactions, Chapter 11 proceedings, and multi-tier credit facilities. She previously practised at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Jennifer was admitted in New York in 2019 and is a member of the New York State Bar Association. She earned civil- and common-law degrees from McGill University, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BA from McGill.
