Robert Mroz

Overview

Rob’s practice focuses on commercial litigation and insurance defence. He has represented clients at all levels of court in Nova Scotia. Rob advises clients in business and real estate disputes, and maintains a varied insurance defence practice, defending claims based on alleged professional negligence, property damage, and personal injury. Rob also defends municipalities and quasi-government entities against claims based on their operation of public works and performance of statutory mandates. Rob also represents insurers as coverage counsel and as counsel on subrogated matters, including claims arising out of fire loss, water damage, and environmental contamination.

Born and raised in Montreal – and now happily a resident in Dartmouth – Rob earned a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University before attending law school at the University of New Brunswick. At UNB, Rob was placed on the Dean’s List and argued in French at the 2015 national Laskin moot court competition in appellate advocacy.

Rob co-teaches Civil Trial Practice at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He sits on the Board of the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) and serves as a member of the Nova Scotia Health Authority Research Ethics Board.
