Overview
Ian is a Partner in our Halifax office. He has a specialized practice in dispute resolution with a significant background in commercial, construction and business litigation. He also has extensive experience in life/health, professional liability, property and specialty lines insurance claims. He also maintains a robust practice dealing with technology and shareholders disputes.
Ian has frequently appeared as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. He regularly lectures and writes on issues relating to dispute resolution, insurance law, and trial advocacy. He lectured on Civil Trial Practice at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University for 10 years. Ian was recently listed on Benchmark Canada’s 2017, 2018, and 2019 “40 & Under Hotlist,” which recognizes the most promising emerging talent in the litigation community. He was also named a Lexpert Rising Star (2017) celebrating Canada’s leading lawyers under 40. Ian has been ranked by the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory in the area of Litigation – Commercial Insurance and Construction Law and ranked a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation Canada 2022.
