Michelle Fernando is Director of Practice Technology in Gowling WLG's AI, Innovation and Knowledge Team in Toronto. She has more than 20 years of legal-industry experience, including 15 years focused on knowledge and innovation, and develops legal-technology strategies, responsible generative-AI use, training, workflow improvements and firm-wide success measures. She previously served in knowledge and innovation roles at Norton Rose Fulbright and holds combined law and environmental-studies degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School and an honours science degree from the University of Toronto.
