Ewen is a business, real estate, and construction lawyer. He has a special interest in assisting entrepreneurs from concept to maturity. He works collaboratively to find cost effective and far sighted solutions. He understands that legal problems can seriously impact a client’s business and personal life. He is experienced at finding the right strategy and legal pathway to successfully guide clients through these obstacles.
Ewen has represented a wide variety of clients with diverse businesses including manufacturing, construction, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, sales and marketing, technology, private education, franchising, transportation, scientific research, recreation and travel.
Ewen’s real estate practice includes acquisitions, financings, leasing and development of industrial, commercial, recreational and residential properties. He has experience with First Nations land transaction. He has represented real estate brokerages and salespersons.
Ewen also has a busy construction law practice. He negotiates for owners and customizes development manager, construction manager, cost plus, stipulated price, design build and trade contracts for contractors.
He has extensive experience successfully negotiating temporary construction easements and licenses (crane swing, shoring and underpinning contracts) for developers and for owners of affected lands.
Ewen has been recognized by his peers and included in Best Lawyers in Canada since 2025 for his expertise in Real Estate Law.
