Jessica Vliegenthart is a workplace investigator, workplace lawyer, and sport law advisor serving clients across British Columbia and Canada. With more than 13 years of experience as a trial lawyer and dispute resolution professional, she helps employers, organizations, athletes, coaches, and institutions navigate complex workplace, governance, Safe Sport, and regulatory challenges.

Jessica is a certified workplace investigator with formal training in mediation and conflict management. She is known for conducting fair, thorough, and trauma-informed investigations while providing practical advice that helps clients address difficult situations with confidence.

Sport Law & Safe Sport

Jessica is recognized nationally for her work in sport law, governance, and Safe Sport. She advises athletes, coaches, sport organizations, and governing bodies across Canada on matters involving discipline, eligibility, governance, investigations, and dispute resolution.

Jessica has represented clients before the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada and brings extensive knowledge of Canada’s evolving Safe Sport framework.

She currently serves as Legal Commissioner of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation and is a member of the Governance and Legal Group of the Association of Paralympic Sports Organizations. She also serves on the boards of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada and Wheelchair Basketball Canada.

As a former Team Canada athlete, Jessica offers a unique perspective on the realities of high-performance sport and the challenges faced by athletes, coaches, and sport leaders.

Jessica also maintains a selective practice representing individuals who have sustained catastrophic injuries, including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and serious psychological injuries.
