Overview

Kyle’s practice is focused on civil litigation with an emphasis on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, commercial disputes, and mortgage foreclosures.

Kyle also has experience in general civil litigation and professional liability matters. Kyle has appeared frequently before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, and has also appeared before the Alberta Court of Appeal.

Kyle served as the co-chair of the Northern Alberta Creditors Rights’ Section of the Canadian Bar Association, from 2008-2013; was one of the Northern Alberta Section Coordinators for the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch from 2016-2018; and was one of eight inaugural elected members of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch, being elected by CBA members from across the province for a one-year term in October of 2019. Kyle served as President of the Alberta Branch of the Canadian Bar Association in 2023 – 2024. Kyle was appointed as King’s Counsel in March of 2024, and was conferred the King Charles III Coronation medal on March 7, 2025.

Kyle has previously presented to the CAIRP Insolvency and Restructuring Forum, the Legal Education Society of Alberta and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association on topics including allocation of costs in insolvency proceedings and dealing with self-represented litigants in residential foreclosure proceedings. Kyle also previously served on the Board of Directors of Workshop West Playwrights Theatre.

Kyle currently serves as a coach for the University of Alberta’s moot program.
