Overview
Greg’s practice focuses on expropriation, civil litigation, and construction law.
Greg has acted for a broad scope of clients, including authorities and claimants in expropriation files and he has significant experience with negotiating resolutions and guiding client expectations. He has appeared before the Land Compensation Board (now part of the amalgamated Land and Property Rights Tribunal), the Court of King’s Bench, and the Court of Appeal on Expropriation matters. Greg is a former VP North and President of the Alberta Expropriation Association. Greg has regularly presented at the AEA’s annual conference and currently sits on the Board of Directors.
Greg has been successful at all levels of court in Alberta, including Gaw v Yellowhead County, 2018 ABQB 271 which was selected for inclusion in the Thompson Reuters Construction Law Reports in recognition of its importance to construction law. Greg has also successfully argued novel expropriation issues before the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Appeal of Alberta and his published research has been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada in the decision of Atlantic Lottery Corp Inc. v Babstock, 2020 SCC 19.
Greg also has significant experience with construction litigation, especially in the Arbitration context.
