Dr. Stephen D. Holmes is Of Counsel at Willems Schmidt Advocaten & Rechtsanwälte and Senior Counsel with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, where he assists the Tax and Family Wealth Counsel groups. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration and a Bachelor of Law/Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1979. He joined Russel & DuMoulin as an associate before operating his own firm for 34 years. His work includes international and Canadian tax planning, estate planning, immigration, corporate governance, international trade and cross-border business strategy. He has lectured and written on these subjects in Europe, Asia and North America. Stephen has served as Honorary Consul of Malta for British Columbia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories and has been recognized for tax planning and cross-border estate work.
