Overview

Justice Stéphane Richer was appointed to the Superior Court of Quebec for the district of Montreal in March 2026 after spending his entire legal career at BLG. He joined the firm as a student in 2001, was called to the Quebec Bar in 2002 and became a partner in 2009. His civil and commercial litigation practice focused on real estate disputes, class actions, banking litigation, extraordinary remedies, fraud, privacy and cybersecurity, expropriation and environmental law. He appeared before the Quebec Superior Court and Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Supreme Court of Canada and provincial administrative tribunals. Before studying law, he taught high-school history for four years.
