Overview

The Honourable Justice Michael A. Marion is a Justice of the Court of King's Bench of Alberta in Calgary. He was appointed to the bench in April 2022 after a career as a partner in BLG's Commercial Litigation Group. At BLG, he served as Regional Group Manager of the Calgary Disputes Group and co-leader of the Appellate Advocacy Group, while also acting as an articling principal and mentor. His earlier legal experience included clerking with the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench before completing his articles in 1999. Justice Marion has contributed to legal scholarships, research and teaching in Alberta and has been involved with charitable organizations and pro bono work. He was appointed King's Counsel before his judicial appointment. In June 2026, he participated in a Canadian Bar Association program discussing employment cases and advocacy before the Alberta Court of King's Bench.
