Overview

Maria Gergin is a Toronto lawyer and workplace investigator who established Gergin Phillips Investigations after more than ten years practicing employment law at a full-service Canadian law firm. She advises and represents clients in the retail, education, health care, professional services, financial services, manufacturing, design and technology sectors. She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Canada Industrial Relations Board. Her qualifications include a J.D. from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. from Carleton University, a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Toronto, and Cornell University's Employee Internal Investigations course. She is a Certified Canadian Mental Health Association Psychological Health and Safety Advisor and has specialized trauma-informed investigations training. She speaks and trains HR professionals and senior staff on workplace investigations, conflict and mental health.
