Overview
Kaila Eadie is an Associate at JSS Barristers. Her practice spans most areas of civil litigation, with a focus on corporate and commercial disputes, professional negligence claims, and employment matters. She has appeared before every level of the Alberta courts and has successfully represented clients at trial and on appeal.
Kaila joined JSS Barristers as an Articling Student in 2016 and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2017. In addition to regularly representing clients before both the Alberta Court of King’s Bench and Provincial Court, she acts for clients in domestic and international commercial arbitrations, and before administrative tribunals including the Alberta Securities Commission and professional regulatory bodies.
Kaila acts for a variety of professionals in response to professional negligence and conduct claims and complaints. As counsel to the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (ALIA), Kaila regularly defends lawyers in response to professional negligence claims. She also acts as provincial counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), assisting physicians with professional negligence claims, professional conduct complaints and similar medical-legal matters.
In her commercial litigation and arbitration practice, Kaila is skilled in file and document management in complex cases involving hundreds of thousands of documents. She has extensive experience using e-discovery technology to conduct analysis and deliver results on tight timelines.
