Overview

Chantal Saunders is a Partner in BLG's Ottawa office and a lawyer and registered patent agent who specializes in intellectual property litigation. Her work emphasizes complex patent, trademark and copyright disputes, including pharmaceutical litigation under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. She appears before the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal and advises on Certificates of Supplementary Protection, data protection, the Patent Register and PMPRB issues, as well as patentability, validity, freedom to operate, industrial designs, copyright and artificial intelligence. She is Chair of IPIC's Litigation Committee and serves on the Federal Court IP User Committee. She is a frequent speaker and writer on intellectual property and was recognized in the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers for Intellectual Property Law.
